Me And My Shadow

Kind of a low key week for Reina and I, not so much for Bill...he's been working a ton lately but finally will have this weekend off. In any case, no momentous topics for today, just a few notes on how quickly Reina is growing.

Last week I tried to teach her to hold the railing on the stairs while going down (going down backwards is a thing of the past). She couldn't even reach the rail. Now, not only can she reach it, she can say "rail". She's also gone from tasting crayons to figuring out they only go on paper...which to Reina means they cannot even sit on the table surface, they have to sit on a sheet of paper. Her obsessive compulsiveness doesn't stop there, she picks up random bits of cat hair and says "trash" as she goes to throw it away. She insists on feeding herself and has a fit if we interfere. She eats weird things, too, like shrimp and asparagus and guacamole! She had her first trip to Skyline Chili this week (ate spaghetti without the mystery meat). She loves to read books and take walks outside. She has a silly sense of humor and has finally gotten consistently good at going to bed without a fuss. She's interested in talking about potty stuff and sitting on one one before bath time but still too young worry about it yet.

She's growing up fast. I miss my little baby but this little girl is a pretty cool thing these days.

Oh, how I wish we could get our girls together! It is so much fun watching them become their own little people, isn't it? And I can't believe Reina goes down the stairs while walking...Lordy, my kids are gross-motor-skills-impaired. But Lily can count to 10...does that count for something? She'll be the only kid getting an A in Calculus, but she'll have to crawl up the steps to get to class. -sigh-
