Two Foot Two, Eyes of Blue...
Has anybody seen my gal? Ha ha, now that song is stuck in your head, Mom (probably the only person reading this that knows it!). Anyway, my girl keeps advancing her crawling ability and getting rug burns on her knees, and sometimes tummy, in the process. Feast your eyes on her mad skills!
So cute today in her shoes and jumper, like a school/brownie uniform, just like a big girl! Except for the slobber.

I Vant to Suck My Binky
I am starting this post in the morning before Reina's 9 month appointment at the pediatrician's office. I'll add her stats after we get back, but I doubt she'll let me do much more. She's due for some shots which turn her into a Crabby Patty...pobrecita!
Please enjoy as we do her odd configuration of tooth growth. I have the bite marks on my shoulder to prove she more than just looks like a mini vampire. She hasn't reached my neck yet, but has broken the skin, through shirt. Perhaps she won't be a Butterfly-Angel-Fairy-Elf-Princess like every other baby girl for Halloween, although I haven't really found a baby Dracula costume yet. Maybe a bat, or a werewolf!
Is she a good vampire, like Glenda the Good Witch? Perhaps a pink bat?

MD Appointment Stats:
Height: 26 1/8 inches tall (15th percentile)
Weight: 17 pounds, 12 ounces (25th percentile)
Head Circumference: 32.5 cm (20th percentile)
Kiddo charmed them all, again. Showed the Doc her teeth and how she likes to take steps while holding my hands. Got a shot and cried only until I picked her up, then tried to eat her bandaid.
Currently passed out from all the excitement.

Reina the Slug
Today, on the 9 month anniversary of her birth, Reina finally is crawling. Not the scoot she's been doing for about 6 weeks, but an honest to goodness crawl, butt up in the air and everything. She is no longer Reina the Pinwheel, only spinning or going backwards. I call her Reina the Slug not because she is slow or lazy, but because, like slugs, she seems to utilize the saliva trail she makes to help her move in a forward fashion. Lovely. Thanks for mopping the floors, kiddo. See below for further evidence.

Ham and Cheese
Reina the cheeser strikes again! Today she got her pictures taken to commemorate being 8.75 months old and stinkin' cute. She of course charmed the photographer with her big fangy grin and hardly drooled in any of the pictures. Sorry they look so small...let me know if you want to order any. Parents, you're off the hook, we've got you covered.

Strawberry Blonde
My mom is a "strawberry blonde." I'm not really sure why her particular hair color is referred to as strawberry, since it is definitely not red or even pinkish as one usually associates these colors with the afore mentioned fruit. Mom always said "the redheads don't want her and the blondes don't want her," hence, the qualifying adjective to describe her hair color. Today is my mom's birthday, and she turns 5$##&!? and is proud of the fact that she still doesn't need to color her hair. There is some debate over whether there's any rogue silver strands, but there requires a search before even coming close to finding one. I, on the other hand, may or may not have yanked a few out of my own scalp, I'll not go into that here...
Anyway, it looks like Reina may have her Nana's skip-a-generation strawberry blonde hair, or at least something closer to it than I ever came. So happy birthday Mom and congratulations on finding the fountain of youth!
I think the fountain may need a diaper change, gotta go...

New Babies
This past week I have been inundated with new baby news. And no, none of the news is ours. Several friends and relatives have announced births or expectations recently so I wanted to welcome the newcomers by listing them here:
Moira and Chris J. had a beautiful baby girl Sophia June on August 19th
Paige and Greg H. welcomed another boy, Gage Aaron on August 24th, big brother Gavin is so proud
Giselle and Jeff S. announced baby #3 is on the way in April, joining siblings Andrew and Lillian
Brother-in-law Andrew and his wife, Lauren had our first nephew, Milo Jack, early on September 4th
Welcome babies! Reina can't wait until you come over to play!
Sorry no photos of Baby S, have to wait a few months...

Home Sweet Home
Most of you know I love to travel. Travel is a lot different now Reina is around. Not bad, just busier. Somehow she just doesn't get it to chill out because we're on vacation. Has outrageous demands like hunger and dirty diapers. Oh well. The worst part about vacation by far is the day after when you've got a mountain of laundry, no food in the house and a litter box full of cat poop. I've gotten over that day and now can reminisce over our whirlwind tour of the Southeast US of A.
Thank you Bill for taking this picture from the waist up. On Folly Beach in Charleston, SC.
Just before Reina tasted sand and didn't mind it.
